We’ve told you how important it is to fish in the right social media ponds but have you thought about when to post on each social network?
Hubspot shared the infographic below showing the best times for your local business to post on various social media sites.
Here are a few of our takeaways:
- The best and worst times to share vary widely from one social media site to the next. For example, the peak time for Twitter is Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 3 PM, while these times are amongst the worst to post on Pinterest. After 8 PM during the workweek is a poor choice for posting on Facebook but a good time for Tumblr.
- These times are a guide not a hard-and-fast set of rules. We’ve written about the importance of creating buyer personas. You should consider your buyer personas when determining when to post. The data in the infographic below may not be correct for your particular target. For example, college students might be checking Facebook late on a Friday night, while new mothers might check Pinterest early on weekday mornings.
- When deciding what time to post on social networks, consider the potential half-life of the post–that is, how long it will take for a post to reach half of the total views and engagements it will end up receiving. The half life of a Tweet is only around 18 minutes, so your timing is important.
