On reflection, it is not a surprise that Dr. Fred Puccio of Midland Family Dental Care is well versed in leading edge dentistry.
He offered to speak to us about how he uses digital marketing techniques to attract new patients and keep his current patients happy but as we talked we found out he teaches other dentists how to use sophisticated computer-aided design techniques.
A few years ago Dr. Puccio noticed that when he asked new patients “how did you find us?” they started saying “the Internet”. This is when Dr Puccio became very interested in digital marketing.
He now uses a multimedia approach to building his practice, including:
- A well-ranked website
- A Facebook page
- Email, and
- Mobile texting
The other 50% of his new patients come from referrals from his current patients. It’s not too surprising that he has so many word of mouth referrals as he seems to really “get” his patients like a true marketer. He tells other dentists to “put yourself in the [dental] chair and understand what your patients want. They don’t want to be in your chair. They want to be in and out of your office quickly and they don’t want to be here too often.”
He finds his Facebook page is most effective for helping current patients feel like the practice cares about them. “They like the personal feel of our Facebook page” he says. Indeed, Dr. Puccio finds Facebook compelling enough that he has now hired a Facebook page administrator to update his page daily.
By combining leading edge dentistry with leading edge marketing Dr. Puccio’s practice is flourishing. He seems to be adept at combining his technical skills with a shrewd understanding of his patients and is willing to learn the latest ways to communicate with them.
